Shortly after the Romans arrive, they build a road, 'Portstrete', through where the town now stands.
1086
Chedelintone is recorded in the Domesday Book holding 32 villagers, 8 smallholders and 2 slaves.
1214
Kedelinton appearsin the Bodleian Charters.
1700
The Anchor Beer House (now the Highwayman Hotel) is opened.
1818
Kidlington-on-the-Green is reshaped by the new 'Inclosures Act' which takes away areas of common land.
1852
Kidlington Rail Station opens. It closed in 1964 following the Beechings Report.
1901
The village has a population of just 1,300.
1931
Oxford Zoo opens, closing just 6 years later and the animals moved to Dudley Zoo.
1962
A pilot training school opens at what is now London Oxford Airport.
1968
Thames Valley Police set up a new HQ in Kidlington.
1987
83% of residents vote against 'town' status and it remains a village.
2016
Mysteriously, coachloads of Chinese tourists start visiting the town. Local journalists find a trip to the typically English village is being offered as an alternative to nearby Blenheim Palace.

St Mary's Church marks its 800th birthday.
