Ascot is immortalised as Astolat in Sir Thomas Malory's King Arthur chronicle, Le Morted 'Arthur.

Queen Anne comes up with a racy idea and opens Ascot Racetrack.

1739

Parliament rule that all horses running at Ascot must stay at a "public house no more than three miles away from the course".

1750's

Highwaymen bring their horses to prowl the road to London, including the infamous Dick Turpin.
